I would like to share some Good News with you and it starts with God
GOD IS THE CREATOR
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
God is the Creator He made everything there is, the Bible says in
Colossians 1:16 For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him.
1) We think in are minds God revolves around us that’s not what the Bible says, the Bible says the heavens the earth and us were here to, glorify and please Him. As the Divine Creator, He has the right to do what He wants that is His prerogative.
The 1st point is as the Creator He creates for His pleasure and purpose to do whatever He wants with His creation. If you want to know what your purpose for life is it’s to, glorify Him to please Him so then everything belongs to the Lord.
Example: There was a young preacher going to a country church and in the sermon, he preached how God created everything. All things belong to Him and we are merely managers and stewards, there was a very wealthy farmer listening to the sermon that day thinking he would educate the young preacher. So he invited him home after the service for lunch and why his wife prepared the meal he gave him a tour of the farm, lands, equipment, and barns. He said to the young preacher, young man do you really believe all this belongs to God look what I have accumulated. Don’t you agree this belongs to me and the young preacher said to him this statement, ask me in a hundred years from now?
The point was well made the farmer understood it, were just merely caretakers and what we have doesn’t really belong to us it belongs to God. Because He is the Creator of everything, therefore, it belongs to Him, He has the right of ownership.
The second point is since It belongs to Him He can do whatever He wants with It that’s the right of any inventor, creator or maker.
Example: There’s a beautiful bookcase I own and made out of solid cherry, let us suppose at the conclusion of making one of these bookcases. I decided I could do better I wasn’t pleased with it, so I’m going to destroy what was made and start over and my friend walks up as I get ready to douse it with kerosene. Then I lit the match my friend says wait a minute, you can’t do this to this bookcase it's too beautiful give it to me.
Should I stop immediately and help you load my bookcase in the back of your pickup truck, no I don’t have to do that why! because it’s mine I made it. I have the prerogative as a maker to do whatever I want to do with it, you see God as the Creator has the same prerogative with whatever He made. Because everything He, made is for Him that’s the beginning of the Good News because everything has a purpose and that purpose is what God gives it because He made it.
GOD IS HOLY
2) He is our Creator that is holy, He made everything for Himself we belong to Him and He can do whatever He wants with us. He wants us to be holy because He is holy, He demands it from all His creation.
1 Peter 1:15 but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior;
The scripture goes on to say
Isaiah 59:1 Behold, the Lord’s hand is not so short That it cannot save; Nor is His ear so dull That it cannot hear. But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God,
and your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear.
This says God is holy and we are not holy, there is a separation between us and God.
What do we mean when we say God is holy?
He is good and pure! we think that about holiness but the meaning is that God is all together different from you and me. He is the Creator we're His creation He’s going to be different not only from us but from His angels He made. He is so all together in a different class or category nothing is like Him in all the universe. You can’t just say God is like this and point to it or like him or her. Because it is not true but there is a part of us like God because we were created in His Image there is a likeness some similitude. But that doesn’t mean God is like us He is an absolutely perfect being completely satisfied in Himself. He needs nothing you can see how He is, holy and different from anybody else, He has no needs He doesn’t need us or His creation He doesn’t need the angels to praise Him. He is the Great God Who is totally happy with Himself and can do it without sin. What doe’s this have to do with you and me, this! He has commanded you to be, holy also to be like Him, He will measure us by this standard, perfection. The standard is not the Ten Commandments or you going to church or being religious the standard is you to be just like God, holy. The Bible says:
1 Peter 1:16B  “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”
That is the commandment He has given to all His, creation also remember He is the Creator He, has the privilege to do that. He can make that, command of us and be, perfectly right of that demand.
Are you holy like God?
You and I stand before Him that is the criteria He will judge us. Not that we did good things or being moral, law-abiding or obeyed the Ten Commandments. When you stand before God the one question will be this!
Were you like God?
That’s the only way you can get into heaven.
1 Peter 1:16  because it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”
GOD IS JUST
3) The Good News is that God is our Creator and He is holy.
The third point of our story is God is just the Bible says: Who keeps loving kindness for thousands, Who forgives iniquity, transgression, and sin;
Yes, He does but we have to stop there and clarify. If you know anything about the Good News of Jesus Christ you know that is part of the story but that is towards the end of the story and if you get your facts out of sequence the conclusion can be different. The Bible also says:
Exodus 34:7 yet He will by no means leave the guilty unpunished, visiting the iniquity of fathers on the children and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations.”
He can’t wink at your sin because He is just, or ignore it He does forgive but doesn’t clear the guilty or just excuse your sin because He is just. When this verse occurred Moses was asking God to show him His glory. He said show me more of this divine excellence, this holiness about You that is so different from anybody I’ve ever known show me more of it. If God doe’s He is declaring this about Himself that He does forgive but He also doesn’t clear the guilty In other words He doesn’t excuse your sin. The book of Psalms says:
Psalm 96:13B For He is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness And the peoples in His faithfulness.
Why because He is just, a lot of people misunderstand this about the God of the Bible. A lot of people think the Old Testament God is just waiting to be wrathful and vengeful just waiting to get them. Then we come to the New Testament and God has had some miraculous change He’s gotten kinder and gentler we see Jesus loving and merciful. That’s actually not true God does not change the Bible say’s He is unchangeable. That is part of His holiness, His separation Him being different all together, the New Testament says:
Romans 6:23A For the wages of sin is death,
You sin against Him you will have to pay it can’t be any other way God is absolutely Just let me illustrate this:
Example: Let’s say you leave your home and go on a short trip and when you return someone has broken into your home. They have done unspeakable things to your wife and children, stolen your valuable possessions and killed your family. Within hours of the crime, the alleged perpetrator is arrested and on the day of arraignment your thinking of the unspeakable things he has done. The judge reads the accusations against him and asks him how do you plead?. The man confesses and says I did it, I am guilty the judge then proceeds with the evidence presented. There’s eye witness testimony from neighbors that saw him running from your home at the hour it happened. Then there is the DNA evidence this guy is the man he is guilty he confessed. But the judge says this to him you know I am a Christian and want to be like my God merciful, kind and forgiving. So, therefore, I drop the charges against you, your free to go.
Tell me how would you feel? What do you think your reaction would be? I know what it would be every ounce of what is right every sense of justice in you would cry foul this is wrong this can’t be happening. Now not only is the alleged criminal who confessed to the crime guilty but the judge is guilty. Because he did not serve justice well he did not uphold the law. He, therefore, would be unholy because he is not just. Friend! God is holy and therefore He is just and He has to punish sin including yours.
GOD IS MERCIFUL
4) He is merciful and desires to forgive sin.
Psalm 103:8 The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in loving kindness.
God is forgiving He forgave King David of murder and adultery.
Ezekiel 18:32 For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone who dies,” declares the Lord God. “Therefore, repent and live.”
God is just but He wants to forgive you and is perfect, He doe’s both. God is pleading with you Saying I am just, perfect and holy but I must administer justice. In Gods's, heart He wants to forgive you to live not to die, God likes being merciful not administering justice. Is there a conflict-ion in God is He mixed up and doesn’t know what to do half wrath and half kind. Are the two fighting each other depending on the day, He’s either wrathful or kind to you. Not at all, He is perfect in all ways there is no war in God. It is are dilemma hard for us to comprehend how God could be both merciful and just or forgiving yet upholding law and order.
Example: There was a good friend lieutenant Greg he was a friend of General Stacey. It came down to General Stacey having to sign an order of execution. There was a struggle within him he cared for him this was a good friend for a long time. He has been a great lieutenant who followed orders till now. Inside of him, he wanted to grant clemency but there was the side of him that had to be a General who carried out justice. For the cause of greater good, he sided with justice and signed the execution order. But here’s a point of this story he was a mortal with flaws like you and me. But he had the ability to have two different fighting emotions and senses within him. But he still sided with the greater cause of good God doe’s not have a competition between these two attributes mercy and justice. God will judge sin God will find it in the greater good of His glory and His universe creation to dispense justice against you but at the same time, He pleads and gives you hope if you will turn. Why die He takes no pleasure in your death turn and live so you can receive His mercy.
Proverbs 28:13 He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper, But he who confesses and forsakes them will find compassion.
So the decision God’s justice or mercy comes to you my friend how will you choose?
MAN IS A SINNER
5) Man is a sinner and cannot save himself.
Romans 3:9 What then? Are we better than they? Not at all; for we have already charged that both Jews and Greeks are all under sin;
The color of your skin, ethnicity or religion makes no difference as far as sin goes we are all sinners and cannot save ourselves.
Romans 3:10 – 12 as it is written, “There is none righteous, not even one; 11 There is none who understands, There is none who seeks for God; 12 All have turned aside, together they have become useless; There is none who does good, There is not even one.”
We don’t do good as the scripture say’s because we aren’t good are very nature has a flaw, Where doe’s it come from you ask! The answer is: In the garden where God made Man and Woman are first parents! Adam and Eve. Something happened they rebelled they chose not to live according to there Creators Design. They chose for themselves the result was there nature changed. They were considered fallen and every one of there decedents has received there very fallen and sinful nature. Right up to this very day you and I have that very nature and it is natural to us. Are very nature is not to obey God and not to submit to the Creators will. We do not want to live for His, purposes but are own we are selfish in nature. Are old nature through sin is to live now for ourselves.
Romans 2:8 but to those who are selfishly ambitious and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, wrath and indignation.
Sin is coming short of His glory which is perfect in nature.
Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
The good or religious deeds that we do are for ourselves it is flawed because it’s not for God’s glory. Everything we do must be for His glory.
So there’s a problem we need to change our nature. Another point is we are sinners and can’t save ourselves. We can’t change are nature we can change are a behavior many times but we can’t change who we are.
Romans 3:20 because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the law comes the knowledge of sin.
The more we try the more we break His laws. Sometimes we keep them but there for ourselves are own sake or glory.
Ephesians 2:12 remember that you were at that time separate from Christ, excluded from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.
We have to understand we are hopeless theirs nothing we can do to save ourselves. We can be the most religious person even a Pastor or a Bible teacher. There has to be a moment when you understand your hopeless with no hope in this world. Somebody Who designed you has to intervene to save you.
WHO CHRIST IS
6) He is the Infinite God-Man! He is our hope! He is the answer for us. He is God Himself and He provided an answer for our sin. Jesus Christ is our only hope, people say Who is He! He was a great world philosopher a religious leader like Mohammad. Some think He Was nothing more but this contradicts His own teachings. This would be true if He were only a man but He claimed to be Deity God Himself. If He was a mighty leader claiming to be God and He wasn’t. Then He would be a con-artist, liar nothing like a leader should be. The Bible says that He was God.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Who is the Word? It is Jesus Christ. This scripture talks about the beginning of creation. He was there at creation. He was there even before that.
John 1:2-3 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him, nothing came into being that has come into being.
He pre-existed even before His earthly birth in Bethlehem. He is the Second Person of the Triune God. He is the Son of God. God offered for us His only begotten Son as a remedy to are sin problem. So if He is the Infinite God-Man! What are you going to do with that information? If He is your Creator and the Infinite God-Man. How do we identify with Him with what He has done?
WHAT CHRIST DID
7) He Christ Jesus became are substitutionary death Who solved are sin problem and brought us to a right relationship with God.
Romans 3:24 being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus;
The Apostle Paul says it is a free gift. Then how do we get this free gift when He is a God of justice? How can that be when we earlier said God will not ignore sin. In the scripture it says ( being justified ) What does it mean to be justified? It means God accepts you as perfectly clean your complete in His presence. The scripture also says in the words ( in Christ Jesus ) in Christ both mercy and justice have been satisfied God will freely forgive you and accept you because of what Christ did. What did He do?
Romans 3:25 whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed;
The word propitiation what does it mean: God gave a substitution sacrifice on your behalf. In other words, you should be punished for your sins. But instead, God gave us His Son and put Him on a cross to die a shameful death and suffer what you and I deserve God’s wrath. When Jesus was born in Bethlehem in a stable that was the beginning of our solution. No, you have to go to Jerusalem to the hill an old rugged cross where God literally slays and judges His perfect innocent Son for your sake. We see that Jesus was sinless and perfect in every way. When He was put on the cross God placed every one of your sins every thought, attitude in rebellion against God. God placed them on His Son, though innocent and dispensed, holy justice on Him. He treated Him as if He committed those sins and dealt with Him as a lawbreaker instead of us. So then God could declare us innocent that is what propitiation means.
Here is an example: Let's say you anger your husband and he’s been difficult. You try to figure some solution. You go to the store buy a gift to have them to forget about the anger so you propitiate it. Jesus was the substitute sacrifice where Gods anger has been completely put away and His justice is satisfied.
Romans 3:25B This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed; 26 for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
His justice was satisfied now He can be perfectly just and legal to be merciful to you. His mercy, truth, and justice have come together in Jesus. He is the answer to Gods mercy and justice. what, He asks you to do is put your faith ( trust ) in Him.
WHAT IS FAITH
8) Simply put faith is trusting in Jesus Christ alone for eternal life.
Hebrews 11:1  Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
Trusting in Jesus Christ is not trusting in someone else your pastor or church and most importantly certainly not yourself. Your confidence is completely in Jesus Christ for eternal life, eternal life is not just life after death it has to do with it but there is more. When the Bible speaks of eternal life it speaks of not just duration of time but the quality of life. Eternal life is the life of Jesus as the Bible says, so what happens when you trust in Him, His very life is infused into you. He comes to live within you and that has radical implications on how you live from now on once saved day to day. Trusting in Christ is more than just intellectual ascent and human belief there’s a committal of something to the Person of Jesus Christ.
Hebrews 11:6  And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.
Example: For example, if you're trusting me you're having to commit something to me otherwise you’ll just believe I am trustworthy.
To Trust in Christ means you have committed something into His care and into His keeping. What is that! it’s you, it’s just not for the forgiveness of sins or life after death and heaven, it’s with your life now. The Bible says
Romans 1:17 For in it ( the Gospel ) the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; ( beginning to end ) as it is written, “but the righteous man shall live by faith.”
Meaning: That justification being right with God is being revealed from faith to faith.
I’m not just forgiven by faith I live by it, my life now is fueled by a trusting in Christ for something and again more than just life after death. I’m trusting Him with my life now, you see He made some promises to you and me. He said if we will trust Him with our entire being that He would take my life your life and turn everything to are good. He would conform us to the image of His Own Person, He would do things with us that is just impossible for us to comprehend even now. He could make are life count eternally forever to His glory and to are good. So when a Man or a Woman trusts in Jesus there not just trusting for a place in heaven. There trusting that God will take something of there life and make something beautiful out of it. Are you trusting Christ with your life or have you just made a commitment to Him made a decision for Him. You're doing your best to keep the commandments and do what you think God requires of you. Listen the Bible says
Romans 3:28 For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law.
It is faith in a Person that saves a believing soul, not faith in a particular philosophy or a code of rules. It’s not what you do, it’s what He has done and you're committing your whole life now and forever even after death. If I really believe He is Who He said He is and He can do what He promised and that He is the Supreme God the only True God. If I really believe in Him If I really trust in Him then I'll see Him be as He said He is. Faith knows that no matter what the situation, in our lives or someone else's, that the Lord is working in it. He is the Supreme Person of your life it will make you willing to lose your life for His sake because His life is much more valuable than yours.
WHAT REPENTANCE IS
9) Let's discuss repentance which is deeply connected to the word faith which we just talked about.
Basically there like two sides of a coin no genuine faith without genuine repentance. But unfortunately today the word repentance is absent from are vocabulary more used in the past than today but it really is important. You can’t have genuine salvation without this repentance and so what does repentance mean let me begin by explaining what it isn’t. It isn’t just feeling sorry or guilty many people believe they have truly repented of there sin because they felt bad. They were in a church they heard the Gospel they believe they have turned to Christ believed upon Him and repented of there sins. But the Bible warns us there are two kinds of sorrow that can motivate a profession of faith. One is a Godly sorrow the other is a worldly sorrow the Bible says in:
2 Corinthians 7:10 For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death.
So God creates a lasting change but worldly sorrow alleviates the conscious and leaves you in your sin. So just feeling bad, feeling remorse or feeling guilt about sin, wrong actions, mistakes, and failures is not necessarily genuine repentance. So what is it! well, genuine repentance is the turning and hating of sin, turning from sin, hating your sin turning toward Christ. It involves three components of your personality, mind, the heart, and the will. Let's deal with the mind, genuine sorrow that produces Godly genuine repentance first affects the mind. The mind hears the truth and whereas the mind had been blind to the truth did not agree with it. There’s now an acknowledgment an agreement with it not only doe’s the mind agree with it but it affects the heart and brings a change. Where you once loved your sin, relished it, protected it, defended it, genuine repentance no longer defends or protects or relishes it. But really now dislikes it wants to be free from it, there’s disdain, there’s a dislike for sin and unless that’s really there in your life you may have felt sorry or guilty but you’ve not truly repented. Now when the intellect the mind and the heart come together in genuine repentance the third component has to follow and it’s your will. There’s a change in actions you no longer live the way you once lived, you no longer embrace that world view there’s been a 180-degree turn from your sin. Let me summarize what I believe is genuine repentance:
A) An acknowledgment and agreement that God has not been first place in your life.
Listen to what the Bible says:
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Please stop and don’t jump to a conclusion, if we confess sounds like saying that God I'm sorry your right, I’m wrong I messed up. But the word confess there is not really dealing with just verbal exclamation, but rather with an inward agreement.
The word literally means: To say the same thing as God.
There’s an agreement with God whereas before there wasn’t, you believed you were justified, you believe you were okay. But now you agree with God that He is right and you are wrong.
B) There is a reception you literally receive Jesus Christ as the (Lord) director of your life the controller.
The Bible says:
Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;
Notice how Jesus is described as the Lord, Jesus asked this question:
Luke 6:46 “Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?
In other words, Jesus wants you to pay attention that if you are to be His followers you have to submit to His authority.
Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.
What does it mean to deny yourself here is exactly what Jesus meant:
It means you deny yourself the right to trust in yourself, you now place all of your confidence on how to live your life in Christ Jesus. He does become the director of your life, that is one genuine evidence that you repented. But there’s one more:
C) Be willing to obey whatever Jesus directs you to do.
If He’s truly the director then there has to be obedience, listen To what the Apostle John who followed Jesus said:
John 15:10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.
Where did this come from? well, he was quoting directly from the Lord Master Jesus Christ. John new well that many people can confess to be believers followers of Christ. But if their life doe’s not change and the course of there life doe’s not redirect and follow Him in obedience. Then Godly sorrow really hasn’t taken place, John went on to say in His first Epistle.
Here’s the grand evidence:
1 John 2:3-5 By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments.4 The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; 5 but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God Has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him:
So the question today has genuine repentance occurred in your life or have you just made a decision. So you joined a church and now you go to church on Sunday morning if that or has the whole direction of your life truly changed. Is there something internally driving you to hate even when you still sin today, create a misery and a turning to Christ in repentance in change. Friend without that there is no genuine repentance, may God grant you by the Holy Spirit repentance.
GOD’S GRACE
10) Everything that has been shared up to this point is an explanation of the grace of God.
You see salvation is just that it’s a grace, grace means it’s a gift, you don’t earn it you didn’t deserve it in fact you couldn’t if you tried. All the religious efforts of God’s greatest champions couldn’t have saved them they were given the same gift of grace. The Bible says:
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;
God gifts you with salvation you don’t save yourself. The Bible says:
Ephesians 2:9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Going to church we are living in a sad day when people believe there saved because they do those things. Jesus completely showed us a more radical way He explained to a very religious man of His own day a preacher. That it was not his religion that was going to save him He said to him.
John 3:3-7 Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 4 Nicodemus *said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born, can he?” 5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of
God.6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.7 Do not be amazed that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’
Jesus was equating this new birth with physical birth and just like when you were born you didn’t help your Mother in that process. You caused her probably great difficulty there’s really nothing you and I do in the new birth process. It’s an act of God, an act of the Holy Spirit It’s a supernatural thing can I say it this way it’s a miracle, God has to perform a miracle on you. Jesus again to that same preacher Nicodemus said It’s a mystery, it’s just like the wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it but you can not tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit the question is then how do I get God to do this for me. My friend you don’t have to worry about getting God to do this for you He wants to do it. Why did He send His Son to die for sinners?, Why would the love that He had in His heart compel Him to rescue you people like you and me?. No, the question is not doe’s God want to save me, the question is do you want to be saved? and if you do I believe God will. Is there anything for you to do? well, we already answered that faith and repentance.
WHAT MUST I DO
11) One day the Apostle Paul had been preaching in a city called Philippi and He and his partner Silas were arrested and put into prison. Do to a great miracle an earthquake occurred and freed them all from the prison and the jailer bowed before the feet of Paul asking him. What he must do to be saved? and so I’m sure you have the same question and we talked about it already. Just like the Philippian jailer, Paul had told him to “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ”, faith, trust Him, repent turn from your sins let me give you an example of what that looks like or could look like in your life. In
2 Corinthians 7:10 For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death.
Acknowledge and agree God has not been first place in your life. The Bible says:
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Confession here doesn’t mean saying I'm sorry as we covered under the title repentance, no it means to acknowledge and agree with God what He say’s about your sin. It’s to feel in your heart exactly the way God feels about your present situation. It’s to agree with Him that He has the right to do whatever He wants to do. He can save you whether He wants to save you or not you are completely at His mercy.
The Bible then says to receive Jesus Christ as the director ( “Lord” ) of your life. He becomes the most important Person with the authority to direct your life. The Bible says:
Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;
No in the day which that was written if a man stood up publicly and said I want to be a follower of Jesus it was instant persecution and problems. He could lose his job, his income, his own family would often disown him and many people were arrested thrown in prison, and paid the ultimate price with there life. No confession here in Romans 10 verse 9 means your willing to place yourself under the leadership of Christ. Your submitting to Him and pledging your allegiance to His life to do the very third thing. Your willing to obey Him in whatever He instructs you to do that’s what a Christian is a person who has given his life to Christ because they trust Him to do with them what is best. Jesus one day said to those who profess that He was the Lord, He said.
Luke 6:46 “Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I Say?
Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.
Consider the cost to be My disciple
Luke 14:25-27  Now large crowds were going along with Him; and He turned and said to them,26 “If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple. 27 Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.
Love for Jesus has to be the first priority so that even love for your own family can only be compared to hatred. Love Jesus so much more than anything else and be ready to leave everything behind even our own lives For Him otherwise we can’t be his disciple.
Luke 14:28-33  For which one of you, when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it? 29 Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who observe it begin to ridicule him, 30 saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’ 31 Or what king, when he sets out to meet another king in battle, will not first sit down and consider whether he is strong enough with ten thousand men to encounter the one coming against him with twenty thousand? 32 Or else, while the other is still far away, he sends a delegation and asks for terms of peace. 33 So then, none of you can be My disciple who does not give up all his own possessions.
People do not consider what they are doing. I urge you to consider the cost of being a disciple of Jesus. Are you prepared to forsake everything if necessary even your physical life for Jesus? Do you understand how great His Love and Mercy Is? He subjected Himself to the death you were condemned to die and took the punishment on Himself in your stead. That the path to eternity might be paved for you In His presence. Do you comprehend that gift? will you lose everything for Christ and forsake all you have.
Discipleship is costly you can confess to be a Christian, you can say Jesus is Lord but if you're not doing what He commanded you to do. Well then see you don't have true saving faith, you're not trusting Him you're not committing your life to His instruction and commandments. But if you will do that Jesus gave you a guarantee He said this.
John 15:10  If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.

The apostle John gave us the true test of whether or not a man has been born again he said:
1John 2:3-5 By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; 5 but whoever keeps His Word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him.
Well, my friend, I hope that God has given you insight into what He does require of you. Simply put He requires you to follow Him in childlike faith, trusting Him alone for your life. God invites you to a change in your sin status from a position of alienation to a state of forgiveness. Therefore ” take heed how you hear “, one’s response to the Gospel in this life it is the biggest decision you will make because at your death there will be no opportunity to embrace the truth that was given in the Gospel.
John 7:37B “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.
Let’s pray God will do that supernatural work and give you understanding and responsive hearts even now and that you will be born again and know the love of Christ.
info – It’s a comforting that we can trust God, the Spirit of God to do the work through the word of God in the lives of those with whom we share the Gospel.
